Rev. Joseph J. Nicholson

Executive Director

The Caring Hands Project was conceived of by Rev. Joseph J. Nicholson, as a result of what he witnessed while serving as chaplain to the uniformed personnel of the EMS division of the FDNY from September 2014 through  January 2021.

Prior to entering seminary in 2013 Rev. Nicholson founded and ran a number of companies primarily focused on software and software services for brokerages, money managers, and banks. Rev. Nicholson’s companies had relationships with every major brokerage firm and investment management firm in the U.S. Those companies still operate today as part of larger service providers.

Rev. Nicholson has the experience and skills necessary to guide an entity from start-up  to  national business. The combination of entrepreneurial and pastoral skills he  possess is unique and will provide assurance to funders and sponsors that CHP will be well managed and successful.

Rev. Nicholson is the Executive Director of the Caring Hands Project and intends to serve as overall CEO of the organization as it rolls out. He also expects that as soon as the project is large enough, an experienced non-profit executive will (and should be) brought on board to take over managing the Caring Hands Project, from an administrative, fund raising, and local partner perspective. Rev. Nicholson plans to remain active as a spokesperson for the organization and in working with local EMS organizations across the country.
